Frequently asked questions
- Yes. Dental care at OHC is provided by dental students from the University of Queensland. A senior,
experienced dentist always monitors the student and your care. - Students are learning and therefore the appointments and overall time for treatment may be longer than
usual.
- Specialist dental treatment is provided at OHC for teaching and training purposes only.
- Access to this care depends on the training needs of the course and only suitable cases will be accepted
for treatment. - There can be long waits to access this service.
- Most care at the OHC is free for patients with concessions.
- There are some treatments where you need to pay some of the cost e.g., implants, crowns, bridges and
braces. These treatments are not funded by the public health system. - You will be told if a treatment has a cost before the treatment and will need to agree to it and sign a
financial consent form. - In some cases, you might be able to set up a payment plan to help reduce the upfront cost to you. We will
explain how to set this up before your treatment starts.
- Call us on 1800 865 085 if you can’t make an appointment or will be late.
- Tell us at least a day before your appointment if you can’t make it. We can offer the appointment time to
another patient. - You may be discharged from OHC if you have missed 2 appointments without letting us know.
- If you arrive 15 minutes late, we may not be able to see you.
