Dr Jonathan Quicke
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic Research
Dr Jonathan Quicke is a physiotherapist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics. Jonathan is dedicated to improving the lives of people with common and burdensome muscle and joint pain conditions by investigating the effectiveness and safety of treatments (such as exercise and weight loss) and understanding which treatments work best for different people (including how they work). He has a special interest in joint pain due to osteoarthritis -the most common kind of joint pain in people aged 45 years old and over.
Jonathan has published over 40 peer reviewed journal articles, secured over $Aus 1 million in research and personal fellowship funding and contributed to national policy (e.g. the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence -NICE Osteoarthritis Guidelines). He is on the steering committee of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International Joint Effort Initiative. This group seeks to support the implementation of best-evidence osteoarthritis care globally. He is passionate about research collaboration and has lead-supervised 3 research students to completion. His boundary-spanning career has included varied musculoskeletal and orthopaedic clinical specialist roles, clinical-academic (“conjoint”) posts, work for a UK charity (The Haywood Foundation) and work as Research into Practice Adviser for the UK Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (Professional Body). He holds an Honorary Senior Research Fellow position at Keele University in the UK.
