Director Nutrition & Dietetics
Merrilyn is an experienced clinician, manager and researcher and currently the Director Nutrition & Dietetics at the RBWH. During her research career she has developed expertise in pragmatic experimental intervention design to improve the outcome of patients with various disease or clinical conditions associated with poor nutrition. She is recognized nationally as leader in dietetic practice, influencing through research and its translation, a change in clinical practice toward identifying, preventing and treating poor nutrition associated with disease. She was influential in getting nutrition included in the National Safety and Quality Standards. She holds Adjunct Professor positions at QUT and UQ and supervises numerous research higher degree and honours students. She has received numerous awards including the QUT Faculty of Health Outstanding Alumni Award (2013) and Highly Commended for the Metro North Research Excellence Award for Research Support (2019).
