How we make decisions
RBWH grant schemes are highly competitive and receive a large number of applications each year. Applications are assessed by a range of experts at different stages of the review process including the RBWH Executive team, Research Services, peer review network, and the RBWH Research Grants Advisory Committee.
Each grant scheme has a specific assessment criterion, outlined in the relevant advice to applicant’s guide, underpinned by the following core considerations:
- Alignment to RBWH priorities and benefit to RBWH patient care
- Research Quality
- Innovation and Creativity
- Clinical Significance and Implementation
- Team Capability and Feasibility
Please refer to the advice to applicants guide for each grant scheme for specific criteria.
Research Grants Advisory Committee
The RBWH Research Grants Advisory Committee (RGAC) is the peak body for the evaluation of grant, scholarship, and fellowship applications submitted to RBWH grant schemes.
The Research Grants Advisory Committee is responsible for advising the RBWH Foundation and RBWH on the appropriate distribution of funds to support research at RBWH and enhancing, encouraging, and championing research at RBWH. RGAC members are appointed in their own right and not as representatives of any institutions with which they have affiliations.
