Baby Wren has a special connection to Redcliffe Hospital. Not only was this little bundle of joy born there, but mum Lucy is a nurse at the hospital.

Lucy says she couldn’t have been happier to welcome baby Wren into the world, surrounded by familiar faces and the caring support of her incredible colleagues. ❤️

"Having my baby at Redcliffe Hospital made the experience even more special, knowing that we were both in trusted hands."

Baby Wren was named after the tiny English bird, as she made her debut weighing in at 2.9kg 🕊

Sleep is crucial for recovery and to help the body heal. Redcliffe Hospital ICU Nurse Educator and researcher Kylie is leading the charge in improving sleep quality for some of the most vulnerable patients in intensive care. 😴

"We know sleep is essential, especially for those who are critically ill. In the ICU, the environment is full of machine noise and round-the-clock care, which can disrupt patients' sleep. We're focusing on replicating patients' home routines—things like scheduling showers at regular times, engaging patients in daytime activities, and dimming lights at night. Simple solutions like earplugs, sleep masks, and white noise machines can make a big difference." 💤

"Keeping patients comfortable and well-rested is a vital part of their recovery journey."

Great work, Kylie. The Redcliffe ICU team are outstanding 😊

I wish my mum had got more to help her sleep while in there

My daughter was in a coma at the royal. Her heart rate was spiking and we believed she was having panic attacks. As when we played her music the heart rate calmed. We mentioned this to 3 nurses but they shrugged it off and pumped her full of meds instead. We finally got a nurse to listen and saw the improvement herself, so she went and got some wireless headphones for our girl and put it in her chart to try that first.

Well done Kylie 👏

Love this Kylie, amazing work you do

Love your work Kylie ❤️

Redcliffe Hospital is proud to be the first pharmacy department in Metro North Health to transition from paper to digital - transforming care for patients! 🚀 The new digital system means less paperwork and more time with patients.

Acting Pharmacy Director Liz has played a big role in leading this transformation. “As we grow, there are so many opportunities for career development at Redcliffe Hospital. There’s a real sense of community here, and we’re proud to offer personalised care to every patient. The complexity of our older population makes the work challenging but incredibly rewarding,” she says.

"It’s an exciting time at Redcliffe Hospital, with plenty of growth and specialty roles emerging" says Liz. The pharmacy team are looking for an experienced clinical pharmacist to join the team. Find out more here: smartjobs.qld.gov.au/jobs/QLD-RD591214
