We care for our community in more ways than one.

Metro North Health provides care to a community of almost 900,00 patients and families.

Our business is people and our plan is to create a healthier, happier and more sustainable environment for our staff, patients and community.

David Walker, Executive Director, Sustainable Assets and Infrastructure said that the global healthcare sector is a heavy carbon emitter and accounts for about 4.4 per cent of global emissions. In Australia, it’s higher – 7 per cent.

“We can do better and we want Metro North to be the sustainability leader in healthcare,” David said.

“Sustainability is everyone’s business and we are embracing the opportunity to embed sustainability in everything that we do.”

“ I am proud to say that we have already achieved a couple of firsts.”

“In 2021, we introduced Queensland Health’s first zero emissions vehicle (ZEV) and are tracking towards 100% passenger ZEVs by 2026 and we have developed Green Metro North’s Sustainable Guidelines to guide planning, design and construction of our hospitals.”

“We are committed to playing a positive role in reducing our footprint on the environment,” said David.
