    Main Cafe

    Location: Ground floor, Main Building
    Open: Monday-Friday 7.00am-6.00pm, Saturday and Sunday 8.00am-3.00pm.  Public holiday hours vary.

    The Café for The Common Good Main Café offers hot meals, sandwich bar, freshly made sushi, soup and salads, cold drinks, baked sweets, Merlo coffee and a retail section with convenience foods, gifts, magazines and essential items.

    Emergency Entry Coffee Caravan

    Fresh food vending machines

    Location: Café for The Common Good (main café), Emergency Department.
    Open: 24 hours

    There are two fresh food vending machines for patients, visitors and staff. From spaghetti bolognese, braised lamb shanks and butter chicken, profits from these machines will be directly channelled into various medical research projects and support local, fresh food suppliers.

    Gympie Road, which is a 5-minute drive from the hospital, has a range of shops, restaurants and services, including Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre.

    Internet and Wi-Fi

    Free Wi-Fi is available throughout all patient areas within the hospital. To access the Wi-Fi service, you’ll need to have a Wi-Fi-enabled device such as a laptop, iPad or smartphone. From the device, ensure your Wi-Fi function is turned on and displaying a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Look for a network named ‘QH-FreeWiFi’ and connect to that network.

    Enquiries desk

    Located at the front entrance of The Prince Charles Hospital, you will find our Enquiries Desk which is proudly staffed by the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ hospital volunteers. These selfless volunteers are on hand to assist you with directions and if required, to escort you to your destination. Our volunteers work between 8.00am and 4.00pm weekdays.

    Lost property

    If you leave any personal property behind when you leave hospital, items are kept for 3 months and if not collected, donated to charity. If you lose a personal item during your stay, you can email TPCHSecurity@health.qld.gov.au.

    Public phones

    Public phones are located in the main foyer, near the entrance to the hospital, and outside the Common Good Cafe. Public phone cards can be purchased from the Common Good Cafe. Please ask staff for the phone located closest to you.

    Justice of the Peace

    A JP Service is available at the hospital every Monday and Thursday 9.30am–11.00am.

    JPs are available for staff and visitors at the booth next to the Pharmacy Department on the ground floor near the main lifts. A patient visitation service is then provided between 11.00am–11.30am. Please ask to speak to a hospital social worker if you would like more information.

    Breastfeeding facilities

    A Mother’s Room is located inside the toilets near the hospital’s main entrance.

    Toilets

    General and disabled toilets and baby changing rooms are located on every floor of the hospital for patient and visitor use. Please ask staff for the toilet closest to you.

    Cashier Office – Patient Trust Cash and Valuables

    Patient Trust Deposits – Business Hours

    Monday to Friday between 8.00 am to 3.45 pm. Deposits of patient trust cash and valuables are accepted at the Ground Floor, Cashier Office. The Cashier Office phone number is 3139 5633.

    Patient Trust After-Hours Deposits

    Valuables and/or cash can be deposited in the Cashier Office after-hours shute between 3.45 pm and 8.00 am, seven days a week. Ward staff are to contact security to arrange the collection of valuables.

    Patient Trust Withdrawals – Business Hours

    Monday to Friday between 8.00 am to 3.45 pm – Patients can withdraw as cash, up to $500.00 of their funds which are held in patient trust, along with the collection of their patient trust valuables from the Cashier Office. Please note: Photographic ID will be required. Patients will receive a cheque and/or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for withdrawals over $500.00.

    Patient Trust After-Hours Valuable Withdrawals for capable patients only

    NOTE: Deceased and/or incapable patients valuables cannot be released during after-hours.

    Ward staff are to call Security and the After-Hours Duty Nurse Manager to arrange the collection of patient trust valuables from the Cashier Office.

    No cash payments, Cheques or EFT’s can be released to the patient or processed during after-hours.

    Valuables can only be released to the patient (if capable).

    Valuables cannot be released to the NOK after-hours.
