At just 25, Rhys has faced more challenges than many do in a lifetime. After a cardiac arrest while playing footy in March 2022, he was diagnosed with heart failure (cardiomyopathy).

"I wasn’t feeling well for months before it happened," Rhys said. "Things got worse quickly after the cardiac arrest."

Rhys underwent six open-heart surgeries before receiving TPCH's 500th heart transplant—a milestone that gave him a second chance at life. The journey wasn’t easy. Rhys spent 80 days in the hospital post-transplant, including time on life support, lost 20kg, and had to relearn how to walk.

Now, nearly a year later, Rhys is preparing to return to work and has set his sights on getting back to playing footy.

“I’ve been through so much, but I’m ready get back into it. This heart saved me, and I’m going to make the most of it.”

Love is in the air on TPCH GEM Ward with 96-year-old patient June and husband Frank about to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary. 💕

The couple met while working at an optical company in NSW.

“I used to watch June walk past my desk and finally plucked up the courage to ask her out to a jazz concert, she was beautiful,” Frank said.

Frank says that the key to a happy marriage is to appreciate each other every day and be capable of loving one another without conditions.

“Our best memories together were bringing up our two wonderful sons. We used to drive up to Surfers Paradise every holiday time so the family could enjoy the beach - it was wonderful."

“I came into TPCH to get my heart fixed. I needed a new valve to strengthen the weak part. I’m usually a go-with-the-flow person, and not much phases me. But if I had my time again, I would take better care of my heart. The key to a healthy life is a healthy heart.”

Dysphasia is a condition that affects speech and language skills, making it difficult for someone to find the right words or form sentences. It’s often caused by brain injury, stroke, or neurological disorders.

Erin, a speech pathologist at TPCH, works with people facing dysphasia every day.

“You see people when they are at their most vulnerable,” Erin said.

“It’s a difficult moment for many of them, as they navigate a new reality where communication doesn’t come as easily. But you also see the strength and resilience they have as they work through these challenges.”

“Building rapport quickly is essential to helping patients get the most benefit out of the time we spend together. Building trust is key."

Hello, I want to write a little review about the good work of @asha osemudiamen who cured me from hSV 1 and 2 for just 2 week with his herbal medicine, I never believe I can be normal again and have a good life like others I always unhappy the day I got diagnose with the virus, I was lost of hope when my doctor told me there is no cure, I am so grateful once again. Reach out to the herbalist ⬇️ Email: drashaosemudiamen@gmail.com dr-asha-osemudiamen-1-natural-remedies-home-cure.simdif.com

Natural medication is indeed the solution to all diseases and sicknesses such as psoriasis, herpes, STD, HIV, HPV diabetes etc Truly, natural remedies do work. If they didn't, pharmaceutical companies wouldn't be studying plants, taking extracts of them, and planting them as drugs. this is a testimony, I was cured from HPV by herbalist john 🌿 medicine. In case you are having any health challenges you can contact him and also get cured too visit him on his Facebook page* 👇👇👇 www.facebook.com/Dr-James-herbal-home-261965740342582/

"I was skeptical about herbal medicine until a friend shared their success story with me. I decided to give it a try and contacted Doctor usman for their healing remedies. Within 15 days, I was amazed to find myself cured of my herpes! Doctor usman have also helped with various other ailments, including psoriasis, PTSD, diabetes, hepatitis, asthma, epilepsy, and more.
