Statewide MRI and CT Expansion program

On this page

The Queensland Government has committed to enhancing access to diagnostic imaging services for Queenslanders by providing additional computed tomography (CT) scanners and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines across regional Queensland.

As part of the Statewide MRI and CT Expansion program, six new MRI machines and nine CT scanners will be installed at 11 locations across the State, taking pressure off existing facilities by delivering healthcare where Queenslanders need it.

    Medical Imaging – Brighton

A new Medical Imaging Department will be located at Brighton Health Campus bringing additional imaging capacity to the suburbs of Northern Brisbane, reducing travel, streamlining care pathways, and supporting earlier diagnosis for patients who currently need to attend larger hospitals for routine and complex imaging.

The medical imaging department will operate as a satellite facility of the Redcliffe Hospital Medical Imaging Department.

    Service benefits

Delivery of a new medical imaging department on Brighton Health Campus will reshape care across the northern corridor by improving access, reducing waiting times and supporting better outcomes through modern technology and culturally safe, patient‑centred services.

The department will offer CT, MRI, Ultrasound and X‑ray imaging for Brighton Campus patients and provides outpatient appointments for eligible Metro North patients from other locations, helping to bring services closer to home.
