In creating change to support mob, Roslyn loves her new role at RBWH

Roslyn Boland uses the word “celebrate” to describe her start to life at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
“I have now celebrated my first few months here, and I do mean celebrate as I enjoy my role,” Roslyn said.

“It allows me to yarn with staff about opportunities and challenges and hear their commitment to creating change that better supports care for our mob, which will also support our workforce.”

Throughout her 20 years in Queensland Health across different HHSs, Roslyn Boland gained valuable experience in hospital, community and workforce strategy as a registered nurse, Indigenous Health Worker and Hospital Liaison Officer.

“This provided good foundations for me to support, advocate and influence change towards increasing access to our health services for mob,” Roslyn said.
The new position of Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health has a strategic focus on Health Equity towards Closing the Gap, increasing cultural capability within service lines and building relationships with community and RBWH.

Roslyn’s advice to those starting out their careers in Health?

“Keep all your options open, consider everyone’s advice and reflect on which pathway will meet your career aspirations and purpose in life.”
