Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice

All medical staff (excluding junior medical staff) that are under training, including honorary consultants who undertake clinical activity at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, are required to have clinical privileges granted to them to undertake practice at this hospital.

Temporary scope of clinical practice is approved by the Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) for a period of three months. During this time, the Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice Committee will meet and formally consider each application. Recommendation will then be made for clinical privileges to be granted for a period of up to 5 years.
