Melanie is a registered Senior Genetic Counsellor working in the cancer service of Genetic Health Queensland. Although she specialises in cancer genetics, Melanie also has experience working with patients in the prenatal setting. As a member of the Cancer Institute’s eviQ Cancer Genetics Reference Committee, Melanie is involved in the development of evidence based genetic testing and risk management guidelines for hereditary cancer syndromes. In addition to her strong understanding of clinical testing and management guidelines, Melanie is also actively involved in research projects relevant to her patients. Given her experience in this area of genetics Melanie is acutely aware of the emotional impact of cancer and a genetic diagnosis within a family and is compassionate and caring in her interactions with patients and their families. Melanie is based in our Brisbane office but sees patients across Queensland via the Telehealth Virtual Clinic.
