We are proud to have a long tradition of educating and training the next generation of medical professionals in Queensland. We have a strong focus on multidisciplinary partnerships, research excellence and education and we strive to deliver evidence-based outpatient service for patients and their families.

The Prince Charles Hospital is one of five hospitals in the Metro North Hospital and Health Service (MNHHS), the largest and most diverse health service in Queensland.

We offer opportunities to prioritise rotations for training requirements, offer guidance to assist with career choices and provide personal and professional support. Our education and support includes:

  • Advanced Life Support (ARC certified)
  • Weekly Grand Rounds
  • Wide range of unit specific training sessions on a weekly basis
  • Medical Education Unit support
  • Monthly Resident Medical Officer (RMO) skills workshops
  • Resident Medical Officer Society and social events

  • Simulation Centre
  • Doctors’ Common Room

Medical research

TPCH is an active centre for education and research. The library provides evidence-based information and research services. The University of Queensland’s Northside Medical School is located on this campus along with the Queensland University of Technology Mechanical and Biological Engineering Facility.

There are leading clinical and translational research programs, particularly in the fields of cardio thoracic medicine and surgery, critical care and orthopaedics. The site is a major training site for cardiothoracic sub specialties.
