Support for Metro North researchers to develop high-quality research proposals and guidance around the process to secure ethical clearance and research governance authorisation
Research Development Service
Our aim is to develop research capacity and capability across the health service. The Research Development Service provides the following expert advice and support:
- Design of evidence-based research projects ensuring compliance with the National Statement on the Ethical Conduct of Research (2025), Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018), ICH-Good Clinical Practice (GCP), applicable legislation and Queensland Health and Metro North Policies and Procedures as they apply to research.
- Development of high-quality research-related documentation, including research proposals/protocols, data management plans and participant information sheets and consent forms
- Research planning and development activities, including identifying suitable research priorities, writing protocols, guidelines and standards
- Provision of guidance regarding ethics and governance processes and pathways to facilitate timely ethical approval and governance authorisation
- Comprehensive guidance on quality data and document storage practices, and use of information systems
The Research Development Service does not support non research activities, including quality assurance / audit.
Availability
The Research Development Service is available for all Metro North staff, especially early career or novice researchers and experienced researchers conducting research projects that are being led/sponsored by Metro North Health. Support is available at all Metro North facilities and services upon request.
