- Use of sensory processing information in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children at an Australian community hospital 14 March 2025CONCLUSION: Results of this study highlight the need for more rigorous investigation for validation of modified scales and consensus within occupational therapy and multidisciplinary team in relation to reporting of sensory processing information and contribution to diagnostic criteria.Annabelle Marozza
- Kidney Failure due to Diabetic Kidney Disease Among Australians Aged ≤ 45 Years, 2000-2022: A Population-Based Geospatial Analysis 14 March 2025CONCLUSION: In Australia, there was an increase in the incidence of kidney failure due to diabetes among people aged ≤ 45 years in the last two decades. There was a strong relationship between the risk of kidney failure and social determinants of health, including place of residence, socioeconomic status and Indigenous status.Robert J Ellis
- Plasma Potassium Negatively Correlates With Sodium Chloride Cotransporter Abundance and Phosphorylation in Urinary Extracellular Vesicles From Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease 14 March 2025CONCLUSION: In patients with CKD, there are negative correlations between NCC and pNCC in uEVs and plasma potassium, which appear independent of eGFR. This suggests that the mechanism at play is distinct from the overall kidney function, and potassium supplement within a safe level may assist in natriuresis and improve cardiovascular outcomes.Aihua Wu
- Best practice offloading treatments for diabetic foot ulcer healing, remission, and better plans for the healing-remission transition 14 March 2025Diabetes-related foot disease is arguably the world's least known major health problem and causes a disease burden larger than most well-known diseases, such as stroke and breast cancer. This burden is driven by people developing more severe stages of foot disease, such as foot ulcers and infections, and with that worsening quality of life. To […]Peter A Lazzarini
- Imaging and Surveillance of Chronic Aortic Dissection: Current Practice and Future Directions 14 March 2025Chronic aortic dissection is a complex disease with a heterogenous clinical course. Specialised imaging is necessary for the long-term surveillance of this disease to identify patients who meet the criteria for intervention, and to monitor surgically treated patients for complications. Whilst computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are the most widely utilised modalities, providing a […]Samad A Raza
- Surgical management of bilateral mandibular angle fractures: A systematic review 14 March 2025Bilateral mandibular angle fractures (BMAF) are rare and complex maxillofacial injuries. This review describes the patient factors, procedural factors and post-procedural outcomes of BMAF management. PubMed and Scopus were searched for English papers from 1993 to 2023 using the strategy: (bilateral AND angle) AND (mandib* OR bmaf) AND fracture AND (management OR repair OR surgery). […]Samuel R Bullis
- Major trauma and comorbidity: a scoping review 13 March 2025CONCLUSIONS: Trauma patients with comorbidities suffer experience worse outcomes, yet limited research explores whether comorbidities contribute to trauma risk or emerge as a consequence. Further research is needed to clarify these relationships and guide targeted interventions.Rosie Glynn
- The Cost of Downstream Adverse Outcomes Associated with Allogeneic Blood Transfusion: A Retrospective Observational Cohort Study 13 March 2025Background: 'Downstream' adverse outcomes associated with transfusion-related immune modulation (TRIM) occur postoperatively. The potential associations between these outcomes (and costs) and perioperative transfusion are often not considered by clinicians and therefore underestimated. When considering TRIM, many advantages of intraoperative cell salvage (ICS) were previously confirmed. Methods: The main aim of this retrospective observational study was […]Michelle Roets
- Navigating uncertainty in low back pain care through an ethic of openness: Learnings from a post-critical analysis 13 March 2025Theoretical and practical guidance on how to navigate uncertainties in healthcare are scarce. Here, we draw from Gibson's ethic of openness to explore clinicians' experiences navigating uncertainty with individuals who experience low back pain (LBP) and provide guidance on avenues for navigating uncertainty in LBP and healthcare more broadly. Our analysis suggests that clinicians practice […]Nathalia Costa
- Gastroesophageal Reflux is a Risk Factor for the Development of de novo Donor Specific Antibodies after Lung Transplantation 13 March 2025CONCLUSION: GER is associated with de novo DSA development, which has implications for monitoring and anti-GER therapy after lung transplant.Peter Bell
- Improving Outcomes in Mental Health (IOMH)-an Australian longitudinal clinical study of families with children with neurodevelopmental problems: cohort profile 13 March 2025PURPOSE: Children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) face a range of challenges which impact their daily functioning and that of their family. NDDs are often associated with significant mental health problems which can influence the course. The Improving Outcomes in Mental Health cohort described in […]Dana E Galligan

- Infection by Clonally Related <em>Mycobacterium abscessus</em> Isolates: The Role of Drinking Water 12 March 2025CONCLUSIONS: We provide evidence that drinking water is a reservoir for MABS and may be a vector in the chain of MABS infection.Rachel M Thomson
- Exercise and Psychosexual Education to Improve Sexual Function in Men With Prostate Cancer: A Randomized Clinical Trial 12 March 2025CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In this randomized clinical trial of supervised exercise, erectile function in patients with prostate cancer was improved. PESM resulted in no additional improvements. Patients with prostate cancer should be offered exercise following treatment as a potential rehabilitation measure.Daniel A Galvão
- Quality Indicators for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in Queensland, Australia, 2012-2021 11 March 2025CONCLUSIONS: The endorsed suite of quality indicators offers essential benchmarking to enable ongoing monitoring of and improvement in the quality of lung cancer care in Queensland.Danny R Youlden
