- Best practice guidelines for the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of cognitive disorders in Parkinson's disease 23 March 2026Although cognitive impairment is prevalent in people living with Parkinson's disease (PD), the clinical approach to cognitive disorders in PD varies significantly across health services. Here, we present updated best practice guidelines to standardise the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of cognitive disorders in PD across clinical contexts. Guideline development followed a two-phase process incorporating both […]Dana Pourzinal

- Shigellosis: antibiotics should be strictly reserved for severe disease and cases at very high risk of onward transmission 23 March 2026Increasing rates of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Shigella have been detected worldwide. This retrospective review of shigellosis notifications in Southeast Queensland found that XDR Shigella accounted for 48% of notifications. Antimicrobial treatment should be reserved for individuals with severe disease, immunocompromise or high risk of onward transmission.Bhakti Vasant
- Age, sex, smoking-specific prevalence and progression in interstitial lung abnormality: patient-level meta-analysis 23 March 2026CONCLUSIONS: Age is the strongest determinant of ILA prevalence. ILAs show significant progression on imaging over time, and progression is mainly driven by fibrotic features rather than age once ILA is established. Given the higher prevalence in older adults, targeted screening in aging populations remains appropriate, while follow-up strategies should be guided by fibrotic burden […]Kum Ju Chae

- Towards Prescribing Pathways for Oral Health Practitioners in Australia: Addressing Barriers to Patient-Centered Care 21 March 2026CONCLUSION: As independent practitioners, the persistence of restrictive prescribing frameworks for OHPs reflects outdated professional dominance rather than evidence-based workforce planning. Expanding prescribing rights for OHPs represents a logical evolution of their role and an opportunity to address entrenched oral health inequities.W Carlson-Jones

- Optimising communication function in primary brain tumour: a randomised controlled trial of CanCommunicate 18 March 2026CONCLUSION: The current study supports the benefits of communication intervention for people with brain tumour and reinforces the need for tailored, goal-based interventions.Emma Finch
- Validation of PaO2:FiO2 for predicting hospital mortality in critically ill patients with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure: a retrospective binational registry-based study 18 March 2026CONCLUSION: The optimal PaO2:FiO2 threshold for predicting hospital mortality was 230. PaO2:FiO2 has low discriminatory capacity in predicting hospital mortality among intensive care unit patients.Mahesh Ramanan
- In Vitro Stability Study Supports the Use of Efmoroctocog Alfa and Rurioctocog Alfa Pegol for Continuous Infusion in Hemophilia A 18 March 2026Efmoroctocog alfa (ELOCTATE) and rurioctocog alfa pegol (ADYNOVATE) are extended half-life (EHL) recombinant human coagulation factor VIII (rFVIII) products indicated for the prophylaxis of bleeding and in the perioperative setting in patients with hemophilia A. Continuous infusion (CI) using a standard half-life (SHL) rFVIII is an established alternative to bolus infusion (BI) for surgical procedures […]Gianna Pastore
- Exercise & Sports Science Australia Position Statement on exercise training in patients with chronic heart failure: 2025 update 18 March 2026Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a complex syndrome characterised by cardiac dysfunction, impaired exercise tolerance and reduced quality of life. Regular exercise participation has been shown to be a safe and effective adjunct to medical management in the majority of patients with CHF. Accordingly, exercise training is now acknowledged as an important component of multidisciplinary […]Itamar Levinger
- Microbiological outcomes associated with Burkholderia species in people with cystic fibrosis receiving CFTR modulator therapy 18 March 2026CONCLUSION: These findings contribute to the evolving understanding of Burkholderia species in the modulator era. While ETI does not eliminate the risk of chronic infection, it may reduce acquisition and support clearance in a subset of pwCF.Timothy Riddles
