- Monoallelic POLR3A Variants Cause Early-Onset Peripheral Neuropathy 9 June 2026OBJECTIVE: Biallelic variants in genes encoding the RNA polymerase III complex (Pol III) cause a spectrum of neurological disorders primarily affecting the central nervous system. Monoallelic variants have been reported in the POLR3B subunit only, associated with neurodevelopmental disorder, epilepsy, and peripheral neuropathy. We describe a novel Pol III-related disorder caused by monoallelic variants in […]Luiza L P Ramos
- Accuracy of next-generation wireless skin temperature sensors during exercise-heat stress 9 June 2026Skin temperature is fundamental in characterising human thermoregulatory responses. Wired probes, although accurate, restrict movement and are impractical outside laboratory settings. The iButton (DS1922L; Maxim Integrated, USA) is a widely used wireless alternative but does not meet the precision recommended by ISO 9886 and permits only retrospective data retrieval. A recently developed wireless sensor, the […]Aaron J E Bach
- Predicting recurrence patterns and outcomes following resection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: a contemporary real-world data cohort study 8 June 2026CONCLUSION: A high proportion of resected PDAC patients experienced ER. Multiple pathological factors can predict ER. Primary tumor location was associated with site of recurrence. Neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy significantly reduced ER and increased OS.Eden Mane
- Risk Factors for Foot-Related Hospitalisations in Adults With and Without Diabetes: A Systematic Review 8 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: This review suggests that the common risk factors for foot disease-related hospitalisations are being male, having diabetes, chronic kidney disease, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral artery disease and lack of footcare, particularly in diabetes populations. There were no studies investigating hospitalisations for other foot-related conditions and few in nondiabetes populations.Sucharitha R Weerasuriya
- The roadmap for community engagement: co-design and evaluation of a toolkit to strengthen community-academic research partnerships 7 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: The Roadmap is a rigorously co-developed, adaptable toolkit that can support equitable research partnerships. Findings justify formal effectiveness testing and implementation studies on scalability across settings to advance health equity.Emily M D'Agostino
- Assessment of a novel semi-automated dataset for large scale surveillance of Central venous catheter-related mechanical complications 6 June 2026CONCLUSION: A semi-automated dataset based on electronic health record documentation provides sufficiently accurate surveillance of central catheterisation related mechanical complications at the group level. Despite minor discrepancies, the semi-automated method enhances efficiency, scalability, and supports continuous real-time quality assurance. The potential underestimation of complication rates is offset by the possibility of robust real-time quality assurance […]Emilia Ängeby
- Irrigated versus non-irrigated radiofrequency ablation of the atrioventricular node for atrial fibrillation 6 June 2026No abstractNickolas Colyn
- Valganciclovir for CMV Prophylaxis After PTCy-Based Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation 6 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: Valganciclovir offers a cost-effective alternative to letermovir for preventing csCMVi in CMV-seropositive PTCy-based alloHCT recipients, with delayed count recovery precluding initiation as the major constraint for haplo-identical transplantation.Nermen Tawfik
- Autoinhibition of the mechanosensitive lipid scramblase TMEM63B by its C-terminal tail 5 June 2026TMEM63B belongs to the OSCA/TMEM63 family of mechanosensitive ion channels. We recently identified it as a mechanosensitive lipid scramblase activated by changes in membrane physical properties. Cryo-EM analysis revealed that recombinant mouse TMEM63B (mTMEM63B) protein adopts either closed or open conformations depending on the detergent environment, and that the monoclonal antibody YN9303-24 stabilizes the open […]Megumi Nishimura
- Surveillance Outcomes in an Australian Cohort Undergoing Piecemeal Polypectomy for Conventional Adenomas and Serrated Lesions 4 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: In this real-world study, most piecemeal polypectomy was performed using cold snare technique. There was a clinically significant risk of recurrence in CA including those < 20 mm supporting current recommendations of surveillance at 6 months unless technical advances can be shown to reduce recurrence. Our findings suggest a lower risk of recurrence in […]Shweta Sharma
- Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis update, comparing the Australasian Interstitial Lung Disease Registry to the Australian Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Registry 4 June 2026CONCLUSION: Baseline demographics from the IPF cohorts for both AILDR and AIPFR are largely comparable, with increasing antifibrotic and decreasing use of immunosuppressants since 2016. Immunosuppressive therapy in IPF remains relatively higher than expected despite guideline recommendations.Michelle Chee
- Physiotherapy at night: A multicentre prospective audit of respiratory-based physiotherapy services provided at night in Queensland 4 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: Respiratory-based physiotherapy services provided at night varied greatly across hospitals. On-call and evening-shift physiotherapists delivered multimodal treatments mostly to patients with a natural airway, located in the intensive care unit or hospital wards.Claire Hackett
- Effect of breathing pattern on nasal airflow, air conditioning, and gas clearance in a patient specific upper airway model 4 June 2026CONCLUSIONS: The present simulations show that breathing pattern influences intranasal airflow, air conditioning, rebreathed gas clearance, and sinus ventilation. Lower respiratory rates improved gas clearance by reducing the relative effect of anatomical dead space, while waveform differences also affected heat exchange and sinus transport. The findings should be interpreted as a mechanistic, case specific assessment […]Mehrdad Khamooshi
- Guidelines for the Intraprocedural Imaging for Mitral Valve Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (M-TEER): Recommendations from the American Society of Echocardiography 4 June 2026As the number of mitral valve transcatheter edge-to-edge repair procedures increases, there are catheter operators and interventional echocardiography operators performing these procedures with variable expertise. Expert imaging is paramount for the success of these procedures and requires knowledge of mitral valve anatomy, the ability to quickly manipulate two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) images in real […]Stephen H Little
