Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Facility

Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Facility

Additional mental health support at The Prince Charles Hospital will be available once construction of the $14 million Crisis Stabilisation Facility (CSF) is complete.

The TPCH CSF is in response to increased mental health crisis presentations and will provide an immediate and intensive level of care for individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis. It is designed to provide an alternative to care in the emergency department within a home-like environment.

Works have started on the fabrication of a modular building which is planned to be installed at TPCH in mid-May 2024..

From 21 February, site establishment works will occur beginning with the installation of site fencing and permanent closure of the small Endoscopy Unit car park to make way for the new facility. Patients and delivery vehicles will still be able to access the undercroft area for drop offs and pick ups.

Building contractors will also set up a site compound for their workers and this will be temporarily located on the green space adjacent to the footpath near Wallace Street.

Civils works will commence from March.

The new space which will run adjacent to the Emergency Department will provide 24/7 crisis support as well as targeted care and is anticipated to be completed in July 2024.
