    Our diversity is unique. Two of our five hospitals – Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) and The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) – are tertiary/quaternary referral hospitals, providing state-wide super specialty services, such as heart and lung transplantation and burns treatment.

    Redcliffe and Caboolture are major secondary hospitals that are currently undergoing significant expansion, and Kilcoy is a regional community hospital.

    The Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) is a new specialist public health facility that opened in 2021. STARS delivers a range of new and expanded healthcare services to meet demand and increase patient access to specialist rehabilitation services, elective surgical and endoscopy procedural services.

    Community and Oral Health provides accessible, culturally safe and compassionate care to patients in their home, at our oral health clinics and mobile dental vans, community and residential facilities, and bedded services.

    Students in Medicine

    Metro North HHS offer casual employment for Students in Medicine.  These are paid roles that provide clinician support services (in physical, virtual and Hospital in the Home clinical areas).  Performing general ward duties, including scribe services for review by treating clinician, providing surgical assistance under the direction and supervision of  the medical specialist for routing, non-complex surgical procedures.  They also provide clerical duties and tasks to improve productivity and support clinical services continuity.  These roles are suited for penultimate and final year medical students.

    Intern recruitment campaign

    The Queensland Department of Health coordinates the annual campaign to recruit interns for positions in Hospital and Health Services across the state. There is only one method of application for the intern campaign – the lodgement of an online form via a central application portal.  All of our intern training facilities are accredited against approved standards ensuring your year will be rich in learning opportunities, with valuable hands-on supervised experience, and high-level support provided by our well-regarded Medical Education units.

    RMO recruitment campaign

    Queensland Health conducts an annual Resident Medical Officer (RMO) recruitment campaign which is available through the RMO recruitment campaign website. The online recruitment assists with the coordination of applicant information through a centralised database in order to assist Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) with the selection / allocation of RMOs to specialties / subspecialties across all HHSs and generates data about the Queensland medical workforce.
