- Adaption of the Action Falls Multifactorial Checklist for Inpatient Palliative Care (AAFPC): A RAND-UCLA Consensus Study 20 February 2026BackgroundFalls are a significant challenge in inpatient hospices, with serious consequences including injury, loss of confidence, prolonged admissions, and reduced quality of life. The Action Falls Programme, a multifactorial falls prevention intervention, has proven effective in UK care homes. However, hospice patients present distinct risks related to their complex, palliative care needs, necessitating adaptation of […]Fran Allen
- Predictive Symptoms for Acute Coronary Syndrome in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People Assessed in the Emergency Department 19 February 2026CONCLUSION: Clinicians must have a high index of suspicion for ACS in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with chest pain who present with symptoms of gastrointestinal upset such as indigestion or vomiting. Typical or atypical groupings of ACS symptoms are of limited value or relevance in Australian populations, and these terms should be phased […]Laura C Stephensen
- Stains in primary biliary cholangitis: Untangling promise from bias 19 February 2026No abstractTherese Bittermann
- Nimodipine dosing and pharmacokinetic variability in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients 19 February 2026CONCLUSION: Nasogastric administration and non-fasting states may reduce nimodipine's bioavailability. CSF penetration was minimal and highly variable. The population pharmacokinetic model identified age as a significant determinant of clearance. Optimizing the administration of nimodipine may be required. Further large-scale studies focusing on the definition of nimodipinés optimal dosing are warranted.Judith Bellapart
- Targeted Prostate Cancer Screening in Carriers of BRCA1 or BRCA2 Pathogenic Germline Variants Detects Clinically Relevant Disease: 5-year Results from the IMPACT Study 19 February 2026CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Annual PSA screening in BRCA2 PGV carriers confirmed a higher incidence of csPC and detection of clinically relevant tumours in comparison to noncarriers. For the first time, we confirm that PSA screening in BRCA1 PGV carriers results in early detection of NCCN IR-U/HR PC. Systematic PSA screening is recommended for BRCA2 […]Elizabeth K Bancroft
- Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Vedolizumab Levels During Maintenance in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (MOVE-IBD) 18 February 2026CONCLUSION: Vedolizumab trough levels were not associated with clinical or objective remission during maintenance therapy, and in our real-world cohort, do not appear to be a clinically relevant target for TDM.Hayley Logan

- Artificial Iris Innovation in a Complex Scenario: HumanOptics Iris Implant Placement with Secondary Scleral Fixated Intraocular Lens 18 February 2026No abstractAnoushka N Kothari
- Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Image Registration in Radiation Therapy Position Paper 18 February 2026The report from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Task Group 132, published in 2017, established a framework and recommendations for the safe implementation of rigid image registration (RIR) and deformable image registration (DIR) into radiation oncology clinical practice. The Medical Image Registration Special Interest Group (MRSIG) of the Australasian College of Physical […]Tamara Barry
- A multi-country epidemiological analysis of mortality from landmines and other explosive ordnance 18 February 2026CONCLUSIONS: This research highlights the lethality of explosive weapons among local casualties, with a case fatality rate significantly higher than that observed in high-resource civilian or military trauma systems, illustrating the deadliness and indiscriminate nature of these devices. The findings of this analysis can inform injury prevention and trauma care initiatives targeting preventable death and […]Stacey Pizzino
- Simplifying Radiology Reports for Patients Using ChatGPT: A Systematic Review 18 February 2026This systematic review investigated the benefits and risks of using ChatGPT to simplify radiology reports to enhance patient understanding. PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and CENTRAL databases were searched for studies published until December 17, 2024. In total, 16 studies met eligibility criteria for inclusion, where ChatGPT utilised the GPT-4 model in 10 studies (63%), […]Michael Kwok
- Implementing an intervention to facilitate early detection of deterioration in aged care residents: process evaluation of the EDDIE + trial 17 February 2026CONCLUSIONS: The process evaluation indicates high acceptability of the EDDIE + intervention. However, fidelity and intended mechanisms of impact were mixed despite substantial pre-planning prior to implementation. For future studies, specific barriers in the RAC setting such as staffing and turnover may be unable to be adequately addressed without systemic change.Ella L Bracci
- Time of infusion does not significantly impact outcomes following CAR T-cell therapy in large B-cell lymphoma 17 February 2026In this retrospective analysis of 584 patients who received CAR T-cell therapy for LBCL at six Australian centres we found no association between time of infusion and outcome, accounting for confounders, suggesting minimal clinical impact of chronobiology in this setting.Mark R Dowling
- Physiological and morphological development of the spermatheca in queens of the ant Crematogaster osakensis (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Myrmicinae) 17 February 2026The spermatheca is a specialized organ for sperm storage and is essential for reproductive success, particularly in ants, where queens preserve the viability of stored sperm for over a decade. However, the process of establishing the physiological environment and morphology of the spermatheca that enable long-term sperm storage remains largely unexplored. This study demonstrated that […]Ayako Gotoh
- A Bayesian analysis of finerenone in heart failure with mildly reduced and preserved ejection fraction: a pre-specified analysis of FINEARTS-HF 16 February 2026CONCLUSION: The non-steroidal MRA finerenone reduced the rate of cardiovascular death and total heart failure events under both frequentist and Bayesian inference methods. The probability of benefit exceeded 80% for both cardiovascular and all-cause mortality with finerenone.Alasdair D Henderson
