    The Collaborative Research Grants enable new collaborative research between clinicians, academics and scientists with the potential to lead to ongoing research of direct benefit to Metro North Health patients and the community. 

    Program objectives 

    The objectives of the Collaborative Research Grants program are to:  

    • enable new collaborative research between Metro North Health and Collaborating Institutions with the potential for ongoing collaborative research and funding opportunities. 
    • foster the professional career development of early career researchers, especially clinician researchers. 
    • support excellent basic and applied research collaborations between clinicians, scientists and academics. 
    • enhance the translation of research outcomes into benefits for Metro North Health patients, the health service and the community.

    Eligibility criteria

    The Collaborative Research Grant program key eligibility criteria state that applications must:

    • be led by a Chief Investigator (CIA) who is an early career researcher employee of Metro North Health at the time of application and for the duration of the project; and
    • be co-led by a Chief Investigator (CIB) who is an employee of the Collaborating Organisation (either UQ, QUT, QIMRB, Griffith or USC) for the duration of the project; and
    • be aligned with the Metro North Research Strategy 2017-2022 and be undertaken at, or significantly associated with Metro North, and/or directly benefit Metro North patients and the community; and
    • meet the rest of the eligibility criteria in the Guidelines
