Metro North Health Incident Controller

5 September 2021

Dear colleagues,

I write to you with my Incident Controller hat on for the weekend with some important information regarding new exposure sites and information for health workers.

Queensland has recorded one new locally acquired case of COVID-19 overnight. The new case is the mother of the child who tested positive on Friday and is linked to the truck driver who was infectious in the community from August 27.

The new exposure sites have been added to the Queensland Health contact tracing list. Please ensure that you check this as soon as you can and follow the instructions listed on the website. Further contact tracing will be conducted, so please ensure you continue to check the contact tracing list.

Close contacts

There have been a number of updates made to Queensland’s Management of Close Contacts Direction (No.3). Please read the following information carefully and if it applies to you, follow the instructions on the Queensland Health website.

  • Close contacts are required to inform any persons who usually reside, are currently residing in or have recently resided in the same residence, that they are a confirmed close contact.
  • Close contacts must provide details of any other person residing in the same residence to an emergency officer or a contact tracing officer if requested.

A number of updates have also Management of Secondary Contacts Direction. Please check this information and follow the directions.

Interstate borders

There have been a number of border updates for Queenslanders. Check online to keep up-to-date with all of Queensland’s border restrictions and rethink travel out of the state during this time.

Finally, I would like to wish all the dads within Metro North a very happy Father’s Day. I hope you are spoilt by your families and enjoy some much-needed relaxation. I acknowledge that days like Father’s Day are not easy for everyone, so please remember to be kind to yourself and each other. I would also like to thank all staff who are working today so we can continue to provide vital healthcare to our community. As we all know, healthcare doesn’t stop, but please remember your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Michele Gardner
