Taking your desktop home
You can organise with your line manager to take your work desktop computer Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro (small profile desktop computer) home if you don’t have access to a work laptop or personal laptop/computer. Complete the home-based work asset loan approval form and provide to your line manager.
Please ensure all equipment that you’re taking home is recorded with your line manager including asset numbers where applicable.
You will also need to organise:
- the level of access you require to login to the Queensland Health network remotely
- WiFi connection at home
- transport to safely take the equipment home.
If you have a new work desktop computer, you will need to log in while at work prior to taking it home.
Make sure you take all of the equipment required to work from home and have recorded this with your line manager.
You will need to take home your:
- Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro (small profile desktop computer). Desktop towers do not have a WiFi connectivity and should not be removed from the workplace.
- Power cables (PC and screen)
- Screen
- Screen cables
- Keyboard and mouse
- Any other connected devices required to perform your role e.g. Telehealth equipment.
Take a photo of your computer set up at work (front and back) to help with your setup at home. Follow the steps below to safely remove equipment:
- Shut down your computer.
- Turn off the power at the wall before disconnecting any cables.
- Unplug your screen from the back of your computer.
- If possible leave the cables plugged into your screen (this will help with your home setup). If you cannot do this, take a photo to help with your home setup.
- Unplug all remaining equipment you need at home (keyboard, mouse and any other equipment such as webcam, Telehealth peripherals, etc.).
