Metro North Health Incident Controller

Dear colleagues

A short and sweet update today to clarify household contacts for those returning from Victoria.

Anyone currently in Queensland who has been in Victoria in the last 14 days, should get tested and quarantine at home or their accommodation until they receive a negative COVID-19 test result. Anyone who has been in Victoria in the last 14 days is not able to visit our hospitals (except as a patient) unless they have had a negative COVID-19 test result.

To be clear, you only need to be tested for COVID-19 if you have been in Victoria on or since 23 December 2020 (this is 14 days ago), or if you develop symptoms. Households with returned Victorian travellers do not also need to be tested nor do they need to isolate, unless they develop symptoms.

Fever Clinic testing numbers

Since the start of 2021, our Fever Clinics have tested almost 5,000 people for COVID-19. Thank you to everyone who continues to work hard to make sure we respond as best as we can to the increase in demand. Your willingness to help and ongoing dedication helps us as a health service do our part to help protect Queenslanders from COVID-19.

Regards

Dr Liz Rushbrook
