Metro North Health Incident Controller

8 October 2021

Dear colleagues

Eased restrictions in south east Queensland

The Premier has announced that restrictions will ease at 4pm today, 8 October 2021, with the entire state moving to stage three restrictions. This means that:

  • up to 100 people can gather in homes, with no limits on people gathering outdoors
  • weddings and funerals can have 200 people and all guests can dance
  • indoor premises (such as restaurants and cafes) can have one person per two square metres or 100% of allocated seated and ticketed capacity.

Visitor restrictions will also lift across our facilities at 4pm today.

With this news, Metro North Health will move to low risk PPE, except for our fever clinics and COVID wards.

Masks

Some mask requirements will remain across south east Queensland. People in the 11 South East Queensland LGAs will still be required to wear masks:

  • on public transport or ride shares
  • outdoors if you are unable to stay 1.5m apart from people who are not part of your household.

You don’t need to wear a mask indoors when you are seated or when you can socially distance. For clinical care please refer to the low risk PPE matrix.

Staff who are unvaccinated and have applied for an exemption are required to be on medium risk PPE (one level higher than the community risk), which means they are required to wear a flat surgical mask in non-clinical spaces.

While our community case numbers have declined for now, please continue to monitor the contact tracing website and get tested if you have any symptoms.

Regards,

Louise O’Riordan
Metro North COVID-19 Health Incident Controller

Metro North remains on Tier 1

Despite this ease of restrictions, Metro North will continue to remain on Tier 1 in our COVID response plan and low risk PPE.

PPE guidelines are online for healthcare delivery and for residential aged care and disability accommodation.
