Metro North Health Incident Controller

8 September 2021

Dear colleagues,

We recorded no new COVID-19 cases today and 35 per cent of all eligible Queenslanders have been fully vaccinated. Yesterday was the state’s record for vaccinations, reaching a whopping 23,012 doses in one day!

Logan LGA restrictions lifted

Restrictions on visitors to hospitals in the Logan City Local Government Area have been lifted in the wake of the latest outbreak, with mask wearing still mandatory of course.

The Logan families in 14-day quarantine after a Logan truck driver who had been to NSW last week tested positive to COVID-19. So far, except for the original three cases, all close contacts have tested negative.

The families will remain in home quarantine as we know from previous clusters that people can test positive within this timeframe – thank you to all those families staying indoors to keep their community safe!

New mass vaccination hub at Boondall

Today we opened a brand-new mass vaccination hub on the northside at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall. The hub has 1,500 booking slots which have already been filled for its first day of operation and it will ramp up to 3,000 bookings a day from next week.

A big thank you to all of our staff members who have been busy setting up the hub. It’s vaccination on a mammoth scale and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone who helped turn it into a reality in such a short timeframe.

This was only possible thanks to the teams who came together across Metro North Health! The hub will be open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm daily. Share the news with your friends and family.

Regards,

Louise O’Riordan

Metro North remains on Tier 1

Despite this ease of restrictions, Metro North will continue to remain on Tier 1 in our COVID response plan and moderate risk PPE, with fever clinic staff and emergency department triage staff wearing P2/N95 masks. We will be assessing this status over the next few weeks.

PPE guidelines are online for healthcare delivery and for residential aged care and disability accommodation.
