Message from the Metro North Health Incident Controller – COVID-19 update 392 | 14/04/2022
Dear colleagues,
- Current Tier 4 situation
- Vaccination clinics
- Staff testing clinics
There are 8754 new COVID cases reported in Queensland.
Current tier 4 situation
Our Chief Executive Jackie Hanson and I held a vidcast today to update on the COVID situation.
All planned care remains postponed ahead of the long weekend. We are aiming to resume planned care on Wednesday in line with Tier 4 of our COVID response plan.
It is critical we release staff to assist with urgent frontline care.
We currently have 755 COVID patients, including 128 inpatients with 3 in ICU.
There are 718 staff out of the workplace as close contacts or COVID positive. So far 197 staff have returned under the Critically Essential Worker requirements.
Vaccination clinics
Today Metro North is closing our last two public vaccination clinics, Kippa-Ring and Doomben.
Since we started vaccinations in early March 2021, we have delivered more than 640,000 doses to staff, frontline colleagues, and the broader community.
It has been a massive operation which often saw us standing up clinics very quickly for events and pop up weekends. I’d like to thank all staff members who have played a role in the delivery of vaccines to our community. To all the vaccinators, pharmacists, and support staff involved in delivering this critical service to our community I say thank you!
Staff testing clinics
If you have any COVID symptoms, please get tested. Staff can access PCR tests at TPCH and Redcliffe fever clinics. Other sites have RAT kits available. Details of where to get a COVID test are available on the COVID extranet.
I’d like to acknowledge how incredible Metro North has been able to manage the COVID-19 surge we’ve seen in our facilities in the last week – and it’s all due to our amazing staff. Thank you! I hope you get a well-earned break over the Easter long weekend. For anyone continuing to work over the next few days, thank you for keeping everyone safe and happy.
Regards,
Louise O’Riordan
