Message from the Metro North Health Incident Controller – COVID-19 update 412 | 18/06/2022

Dear colleagues,

  • COVID-19 update
  • Medical support required

As highlighted in the Metro North Health messages last week, we are already seeing high numbers of confirmed influenza and COVID-19 cases.

This weekend, across Metro North Health, we also continue to see increasing demand through our emergency departments (ED) and this is being felt across all areas of our health service.

This is not just a Metro North Health trend, there has been a significant increase in ED demand and confirmed COVID-19 cases across Queensland.

I wanted to express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of the great Metro North Health staff, our leadership teams and on-call executives who have, this weekend, during the working week and after-hours, demonstrated great compassion for our patients and each other by going above and beyond in finding innovate ways to share the load and work together as one Metro North Health team.

You have been working across the whole hospital and health service to manage capacity and demand and ensure our patients receive the best care possible.

Thank you all, for your great “can do approach” and demonstrating the Metro North Health Values – Respect, Teamwork, Compassion, High Performance and Integrity – in a very genuine and practical way.

I would like to give a big shout out to the amazingly talented and dedicated staff in all our Metro North Health emergency departments, our virtual ED and ward, and our great PACH team, which have all worked tirelessly to support us through this time of unprecedent capacity demand and for making a difference every day.

Big thanks also to our colleagues in Queensland Ambulance Service who are continually feeling the demand and working with Metro North Health 24/7 to assist in any way they can and, at the same time, continue to meet the emergency demands of our community.
