I hope you all had a great weekend! I won’t mention the AFL or the Rugby… but the weather was great. It’s another day of zero new cases of COVID-19 in Queensland, keep up the good work.
Changes to Queensland restrictions
On Friday 16 October the Queensland Government updated some of the restrictions which came into effect at 4 pm that day. The easing of restrictions allowed the following changes:
- Gatherings: Gatherings of up to 40 people can occur in homes and public places and up to 40 people at any one time can dance at a wedding with a COVID Safe Plan.
- Aged Care Facilities: Residents of aged care facilities in non-restricted areas (currently all of Queensland) can return to going out on group excursions together – visits to the shops, bingo or the beach, etc.
The updated roadmap to easing restrictions is available online and should be referred to as you start to plan and book trips and events this holiday season.
COVID-19 detected in sewage
COVID-19 has been detected in the water entering Sandgate’s sewerage treatment plant This testing does not tell us whether the people who shed the virus were sick or infectious at the time.
There has been overseas acquired cases hospitalised, quarantined and residing in the catchment area which could account for the detection. Metro North’s Public Health Unit has advised they are alert to the information but not alarmed, there is no evidence to suggest this could cause someone to contract the virus.
#Ride2WorkDay
Wednesday 21 October is National #Ride2Work Day – Australia’s biggest celebration of commuter riding. As you know I enjoy riding my bike to work as much as possible and can’t recommend it enough! If you’ve got the time and ability to do so, try riding your bike to work on Wednesday, or even if it’s just to the shops or a friend’s place. It’s refreshing, good for your health and is a great way to get from A to B. Stay safe on the roads and don’t forget your helmet!
