Metro North Health Incident Controller

2 October 2021

Dear colleagues,
I hope you have had a great start to your long weekend – we’ve had beautiful weather! I’d like to provide you a few updates from today as Metro North’s incident controller for the weekend.

Queensland cases

Today Queensland has recorded two new COVID-19 cases, both linked to current cases and detected in hotel quarantine – this is great news for Queenslanders. I’d like to give a shoutout to the team at public health who are working incredibly hard to contact trace the cases from recent clusters. You’re work is helping to keep us all safe.

Updates to the Queensland border

From 1am AEST Saturday 2 October 2021 the Kyogle local government area is part of the restricted border zone and the Walgett local government area is part of the non-restricted border zone.

New pop-up clinic at North Lakes

We’ve established a new pop-up clinic at North Lakes Health Precinct to run over the weekend and late on Friday nights. Thank you so much to all the amazing staff, especially those at Community and Oral Health, who have made this possible in such a short time! The clinic administered 222 vaccines today, the first busy day of many to come.

9 Endeavour Blvd, North Lakes QLD 4509

Friday – 5pm to 8.30pm

Saturday and Sunday – 8.30am to 3.50pm

Today the North Lakes clinic was the site for the daily COVID-19 press conference. The Health Minister Yvette D’Ath, Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young and Chris Whiting MP attended to tell the community about the new pop up clinic.

If you have any friends or family who haven’t received the jab, be sure to let them know!

 Fit testing on P2/N95 masks

Over the last few weeks, we have had a good uptake of fit testing sessions and we continue to provide more mask options for staff in these times of demand.

Please encourage staff who have been only fit tested to one mask to come back for another mask fitting. This will give at least two masks options for each staff member. The fit testing sessions are advertised on the extranet fit testing schedule and will be increased over the next few weeks.

Please contact MNHHSFitTestingProgram@health.qld.gov.au for any questions.

As always, continue to practice social distancing, keep up good hand hygiene and if you are experiencing any symptoms at all please get tested.

Kind regards

Michele Gardener
