Message from the Metro North Health Incident Controller – COVID-19 update 385 | 6/04/2022

Dear colleagues,

  • Current Tier 3 situation
  • Community restrictions easing
  • Record your booster

There are 8534 new COVID cases reported in Queensland.

Current Tier 3 situation

Metro North has 868 staff currently out of the workplace due to either being close contacts or COVID positive. This is in addition to other sick leave and planned school holiday leave.

We currently have 861 patients in our care, including 72 inpatients with 7 in ICU. We are working to create more inpatient capacity for COVID patients in our acute facilities.

So far we have supported 144 staff who are close contacts to return to work under the Critically Essential Worker requirements.

Metro North remains on Tier 3 of our COVID-19 response plan. This means a significant reduction in planned care and the suspension of face to face meetings. Please review the Tier 3 plan for more details.

Community restrictions easing

Community restrictions will ease from 1am next Thursday 14 April.

This will allow unvaccinated people to visit some venues including pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants; theme parks, casinos and cinemas; weddings; showgrounds; and galleries, libraries, museums and stadiums.

Current vaccination and check-in requirements remain in place until 14 April.

Vaccination and check-in requirements will continue for anyone visiting or working in vulnerable settings (hospitals, disability accommodation services and residential aged care) as well as for workers in high risk settings including schools, childcare, prisons and airports.

There will be no change to the requirement for staff to be vaccinated under Health Employment Directive 12/21.
