Before you start co-design

It is important to make sure that co-design is the best approach for what you are doing, and that you have everything to support co-design success.

You can ask yourself:

Are there the right conditions to support co-design? (genuinely supported vs tokenistic)

Are you in the right frame of mind to co-design?

Is there time and money to do co-design?

Have you got strategies to acknowledge previous inequities and prioritise equity in co-design?

Do you have an appropriate facilitator for the project, or could you facilitate?

Do you have a neutral, accessible, comfortable and safe space to meet?

Once you have thought about these questions, and decided that co-design is the right approach – then you can start creating your Co-design team.
