The next two weeks are likely to be very busy as people’s usual community healthcare services might be closed. To help manage demand, next week we’re launching a 12 days of Christmas campaign to give the community a range of options for care during the festive season. In addition to emergency departments, we’re letting people know about the Virtual ED, 13HEALTH, MH CALL, and where to find local GPs and pharmacists open during the festive season.
Earlier this week our Chief Digital Health Officer Dr Jason Brown outlined the upcoming rollout of ieMR across Metro North over the next five years. There will be a lot happening in 2023 as different ieMR modules come online across our facilities. You can see the rollout schedule on QHEPS.
Congratulations to Professor Leonie Callaway who has been awarded a Medal of Distinction from Women’s Healthcare Australasia. The medal recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual to improving the health of women through service provision, leadership and/or advocacy.
Our first Virtual Courageous Conversations workshop of the year will be 19-20 January 2023. I can’t recommend the course highly enough for helping people recognise overt and unconscious bias and giving you the tools to address it. The Metro North executive team have all completed the course and I strongly encourage whole teams to complete it. To register your interest, please fill in the EOI form.
We received a call this week from a patient who had a procedure at STARS. He wanted to pass on his gratitude for exceptional service. He said all staff were very pleasant, kind, and all took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure to him. This is a great example of how clear communication can help a patient have a positive healthcare experience. Well done to the STARS team.
The Board Chair and I will be holding the final vidcast of the year next Friday at 10.30am to wrap up the year. If you’re heading off on a break this week, take care of yourselves, be safe and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Kind regards,
Jackie
