Team Royal has underpinned the culture of RBWH for the past five years. If you’re a new staff member, you might be wondering what Team Royal is and how you can get involved. Kelly, the Team Royal Administration Officer, shares the importance of the Team Royal spirit.
What is Team Royal?
Team Royal works under the Metro North Values in Action umbrella, putting an emphasis on fun, wellbeing and belonging in the RBWH workplace. Our goal for Team Royal is to improve our organisational culture, organise fun activities for you to enjoy and increase staff engagement. We also want to recognise all staff and celebrate your successes at RBWH. Everyone belongs in Team Royal!
What kinds of initiatives and events does Team Royal run?
Working alongside the RBWH executive team and various other stakeholders, Team Royal is behind great events such as Food Truck Fridays, the annual Winter Warmer, the End of Year Staff BBQ, the Christmas Decorating Competition and much more. We work closely with the Staff Council, the Peer Responder Program, the Staff Wellbeing Specialist and the RBWH Green Team to develop and promote initiatives like RUOK? Day, Mental Health Week, Harmony Day and the 14-Day Self-Care Challenge. We’re always looking for new ways to engage staff and to make sure everyone feels like they belong.
How can staff get involved with Team Royal?
There are lots of ways you can engage with Team Royal. Grab your colleagues and have lunch together on the lawn at the next Food Truck Friday or keep an eye out for our upcoming events for 2023 and get your team involved! We love nothing more than seeing staff proudly wearing their Team Royal t-shirt, which you can purchase online. There are nominated Team Royal champions in every department who also help get important Team Royal messaging out to busy staff, so make sure you know who they are in your department and check in with them regularly.
What are you most excited for in 2023?
There are so many exciting Team Royal events planned for 2023, but my favourite event is Food Truck Fridays. It’s so great to see staff from across the Herston campus interacting with each other and I feel like it brings such a nice, fun vibe to Fridays at RBWH.
If you see Kelly around, don’t forget to say hi!
