Metro North Flexible Work Arrangements – Education Sessions for Managers
To help further embed a culture of flexible work across our Metro North workforce, and in addition to the FWA resources already published on QHEPs, a regular series of FWA education sessions for managers is now rolling out.
These sessions will allow you to:
- Learn more about FWAs and how you can use them to improve your team’s culture, commitment and discretionary effort through improved work / life balance
- Understand our obligations as managers in terms of the requirements within the Industrial Relations legislation
- Use FWAs as part of your attraction strategy for vacant roles within your team
- Implement tips and tricks for best practice management of FWAs within your team.
You’ll also be able to ask any questions or discuss any issues you may be having with FWA’s in these sessions facilitated by one of our senior People and Culture practitioners with significant experience and knowledge of this topic.
Registration is via TMS with sessions delivered through Teams scheduled in advance to give you the best opportunity to attend. Keep an eye out in your local facility’s comms or contact your local People and Culture Business Partner for further information.
And watch this space on QHEPs as shortly we will be publishing an additional fact sheet for our Metro North Flexible Work Arrangements suite of resources about compressed hours of work which explains how this might be an ideal option as an FWA for people in your team whose roles suit this mode of working.
All the documentation you need to complete when requesting a Flexible Working Arrangement is published on QHEPs, including Health and Safety self-assessment checklists for telecommuting and setting up your IT at home, so please take a moment to check out the resources available to meet all your FWA needs.
TMS – Did you know fact #1
Starting a new job can be overwhelming, especially when there are so many new systems and processes. Here’s how you can make your new starter’s introduction into TMS smoother.
We have an automated process with Payroll and eHealth to create new starter TMS profiles. To help your new starters get the information they need to settle in, here are some tips on how to ensure they have TMS access as soon as they need it:
- Complete all onboarding paperwork to enable Payroll to create a payroll ID
- Ensure new starter system access for a Novell account is created prior to their first day
- Ensure you input their payroll ID in the new starter system access. Missing this information will cause delays for your new starter to log into the TMS.
If you require further support, please don’t hesitate to contact the team.
IWFM – what you need to know
After many years of building, testing and piloting, Queensland Health’s enterprise workforce management and rostering solution will commence implementation in April 2023 for the majority of nursing and midwifery staff. Just over 500 organisational units will be included in the implementation comprising approximately 13,700 nursing staff.
You may remember the first rollout of the Integrated Workforce Management Program (IWFM) which commenced in February 2016 to provide an improved ‘roster to pay’ solution and supporting operating model using existing programs SAP HR and Workbrain. The expanded program is being delivered in several discrete stages with the MyHR employee and manager tools already rolled out. The next stage will include the IWMF rostering solution, which has already been tested in nursing and midwifery units at the Gold and Sunshine Coast HHSs with some preparation in Metro South Health.
Implementation in Metro North Nursing and Midwifery Services will begin on 11 April 2023 and is expected to Go Live in October. A dedicated project team from Corporate Services Division, Department of Health will lead the implementation together with senior Metro North staff who have been nominated to support the implementation in the following roles. Subject matter experts from Nursing and Midwifery Services and People and Culture will assist project staff during the implementation:
- Project Sponsor – Kristal Lowe, Chief People & Culture Officer
- Steering Committee Chairperson – Alanna Geary, Chief Nursing & Midwifery Officer
- Business Leads – Mark Whelan, General Manager Systems & Reporting People & Culture / Cindy Bell, Nursing Director, Workforce
We look forward to commencing this long-awaited implementation to improve our rostering processes and reduce the amount of processing required in our current process.
