Today, May 12 we celebrate International Nurses Day, on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
This year’s theme Our Nurses. Our Future focuses on the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic and translating these into actions for the future, to ensure our nurses remain protected, respected and valued. The theme also looks at how we can strengthen our health system to address global health demands.
During the COVID-19 pandemic there was a greater appreciation of our front-line health staff, especially our nurses. As the global emergency of the pandemic comes to a close, it is important that we continue to honour the vital work of nurses and their unwavering commitment to their profession.
Throughout the pandemic and other changes at STARS, our nurses have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our patients and our community. Their hard work, compassion, dedication, innovation and expertise is truly invaluable.
On this day we ask that everyone reflect on the importance of nurses in healthcare, now and into the future. Please take time to thank the nurses at STARS for their outstanding contributions and continue to support them in the wonderful work they do.
Thank you!
