Over the last few days we began our roadshow to acknowledge and celebrate our 2023 Community and Oral Health Staff Excellence Awards winners.
The number of nominations we receive each month for the Shining Star awards as well as the 170 nominations for the Annual Excellence Awards is a testament to the calibre of staff who work in COH.
It is also a testament to the generosity of the people who take time to recognise and nominate their peers.
It was a difficult task for the judging panel as each nomination was of a high calibre and every person who was nominated should be very proud.
I am both grateful and in awe of the panel. I was only ever asked once to judge the best Christmas decorations across 17 communities in the South West.
After visiting each community, I spent a weekend creating 17 innovative awards. I felt relieved that no one would be disappointed however my executive team were not impressed as they thought I had completely missed the concept of a competition.
It was so great to see so many people who often work behind the scenes to support our services being recognised and awarded for their great work.
Congratulations to our deserving award winners at these three sites:
Tania Stewart, Facility Manager – Dual Leadership Award Winner
For leadership in her everyday interactions, modelling collaboration and a commitment to client services and patient care.
Mollie Mayne, Administrative Officer – Dual People Focus Award Winner
For her extraordinary planning, preparation and support of the Caboolture Oral Health teams’ transition to the satellite hospital.
Karly Missenden, Senior Finance Officer – Dual Excellence in Performance Winner

Following the referendum date, regardless of the outcome, COH will be holding Pause and Reflect Safe Spaces across some of our facilities for any interested staff who may want to connect and yarn in a relaxed reflective safe space.

A final shout out
Staff at the Brighton Health Campus are always exploring new technologies and robotic devices to help with orthopaedic rehabilitation and recovery.
Grant, the occupational therapist team leader at the Brighton Health Campus, is flying that robotic flag high, with a focus on helping patients return home and get back to a meaningful life.
Find out more about Grant and our great rehabilitation and occupational therapy team.
