I’m excited to start consultation sessions for staff to talk about our Caring Together: Living our Values project.
These sessions are your opportunity to work on the CKW Values Charter, which is the guiding document that represents how we live the Metro North Values: respect, teamwork, compassion, high performance, and integrity.I’m encouraging everyone to attend at least one session. Attend several if you can do so. All sessions will be the same format and in person attendance is required for the full two hours.

CHRP Update
The Clinical Services Building (CSB) reached practical completion on Monday (23 October).It has now been handed over to Metro North Health to prepare the building for the targeted commencement of clinical services in November.This period before clinical services commence in the CSB is called the occupancy period. Access to the CSB remains restricted to inducted personnel and escorted non-inducted staff/visitors during this time to allow commissioning activities to be completed.It’s exciting to see how much is going on inside the CSB – the building is starting to look like a real hospital with all the equipment and digital technology that has been rolled out.I must say that I have been involved with or see the evolution of many buildings in Metro North. I am showing my age… but I was involved in the building of the new RBWH more than 20 years ago, STARS in recent years and now Caboolture.I can honestly say Caboolture is the nicest! I know that I may be a little biased but well done to everyone who was involved in the planning and now the commissioning of the building. It looks absolutely fantastic!I know everyone is eager to get in and start setting up their new workspaces but it’s important we let the equipment, consumables stocking and digital teams set up as much as they possibly can to ensure our new clinical areas will be ready for us to use and safe for patients.We need to all work together to ensure that everyone’s activities can be delivered within their required timeframes, and if there are any issues that people work through them in a respectful and informed manner.If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see inside the CSB, familiarisation tours are available for Caboolture Hospital staff. Nurse Unit Managers appointed
Congratulations to Sheridan Hoffmann who has been appointed as Nurse Unit Manager for the new Caboolture Hospital Ward 4C and the Cardiac Care Unit. Congratulations Sheridan.Michelle Weldon will continue in her role as Clinical Nurse Consultant Cardiology with a shift in focus away from line management of the Cardiac Care Unit team to a more clinically focused role.Michelle has been a driving force in establishing the current Cardiac Care Unit and in the recruitment and development of the talented and committed team of nurses who have been delivering excellent care for many years. Well done, Michelle!Congratulations also to Tracey McTigue, who has been permanently appointed to the role of Nursing Director – Caboolture Hospital Emergency, Kilcoy Hospital, Woodford Corrections Health and the Minor Injury and Illness Clinics at Caboolture and (soon!) Bribie Island satellite hospitals.Tracey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in emergency department and service line leadership roles, including Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Director in Australia and the United Kingdom. Her first day will be Monday 20 November. Let’s make her feel welcome!Paul Kemp will continue as acting Nursing Director for the next month. I would like to acknowledge and thank Paul for his commitment and great contribution to the health of our community.
Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) go-live update
Congratulations to everyone who has been part of our first week of ieMR Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) go-live!The transition to using ESM to book outpatient appointments has gone well overall with only a few challenges faced in the early stages of adapting to the new system. This is a testament to everyone’s hard work in preparation for go-live and the positivity shown by those now using ESM across our ambulatory outpatient areas.Our Digital Metro North colleagues have also expressed their gratitude for the excellent collaboration that has occurred between their floorwalker support staff and CKW staff on the ground – in particular, our Super Users. If you require any assistance during the go-live support period, please first reach out to a Super User or Floorwalker before calling the Digital Command Centre on 1800 921 342 for issues that require escalation.

Audio-visual equipment upgrades start
I am very excited that work has now started on the AV equipment upgrade in the Education and Skills Centre. During this time room bookings will be limited. Apologies for any problems that this may cause in trying to organise meetings or education sessions, but it will be a wonderful improvement for the directorate.The team will do their best to accommodate booking requests. However, Microsoft Teams could well be the best option for anything urgent or short notice. Once works have been completed in the Education and Skills Centre, upgrades will start in the Executive Building meeting rooms. The work is expected to be completed by the end of November.I’m really look forward to having new user friendly AV equipment and appreciate your patience during this time.

Congratulations to CHRP Nurse Educator Maritz Harvey who had an article published in the Journal of Perioperative Nursing recently. Such a great feeling when all the hard work comes to fruition! It is so exciting to see your work in print and it makes me so very proud to see CKW leading by example and showcasing great achievements.You can read it here.
Celebrating!
The Caboolture Hospital Chapel hosted a lovely service yesterday to celebrate Pastoral Care Week.
I wish to acknowledge the wonderful team of volunteer Chaplains at CKW, who provide our patients with pastoral support as needed. A big thank you to Glynn, Audrey, Gale, Margaret, Gwen, Michele and Allen for the wonderful care they provide to our staff, patients, visitors and the community. It is a service that is so highly regarded. Well done to all and please know that you are the quiet achievers but so respected by CKW.The Birthday Bash this week (pictures below) was very well received. Someone asked me ‘Who has a barbeque in 35 degrees?’Parker’s response was: ‘the same people who have ice cream in the pouring rain!’ Great response Parker! It was a wonderful day. Our month of celebration will end on Tuesday (31 October), culminating in a visit by the Metro North Board with cake!
Finally,
As we head into the weekend, after a very busy week, please take time to have some downtime if you can. I plan to spend a weekend spring cleaning, as my weekends are quite busy now coming into the festive season and I don’t envisage much time in coming weeks to do those awful jobs.I am also hoping to spend some time with my granddaughter. She and her parents have been away for a month and I don’t think I realised just how much I would miss her… don’t tell her parents that I missed her more than them! A month is a long time for the Nana of a two-year-old!
