The countdown is on to the end of the year, and in the ZEN Den, the Staff Wellness Working Group have launched their latest initiative, the staff wellness Advent calendar.
A square in the calendar is being revealed each morning with a new staff wellness activity. The activities are fun and achievable, all contributing to improving our well-being at work.
We thank Dr Seema Saddi and the Wellness Working Group for everything they’ve done this year to promote staff wellness and well-being.
Staff Excellence Awards
The finalists for this year’s Metro North’s Staff Excellence Awards have been announced.
Congratulations to Dr Kong Liew, a finalist in the Excellence in Training and Education category. Our thoughts and
best wishes are with Dr Liew, who is currently very unwell. I’m sure though he will be a very strong contender for this award.
The awards will be announced Friday, 15 December, and are sponsored by QSuper, part of Australian Retirement Trust.
Introducing OPEN – formerly RADAR Rapid Response
The Metro North Health Older Persons Emergency Network (OPEN) has recently replaced RADAR Rapid Response, offering an emergency department substitution service for older people in their own homes.
The OPEN model aims to reduce these risks by providing emergency healthcare in the community, including in residential aged care facilities.
To find out more about the referral process, please visit the OPEN website.
Redcliffe Hosptial Auxiliary
The Redcliffe Hospital Auxiliary has been raising funds to support patient comfort and safety at Redcliffe Hospital since 1971.
That fundraising effort included a very successful plant sale near the Zouki Coffee Box last week. The Auxiliary raised around $1,800 from this fundraiser, adding to the $929,000 raised last financial year. Each fundraiser like this brings the Auxiliary closer to reaching their $1,000,000 target in 2024.
Thanks again to everyone who helped make this latest fundraiser such a great success.
Movember
While talking about fundraising for good causes, well done to Ashish and the team on 5 East for their efforts in raising funds for men’s health during Movember. The team on 5 East raised nearly $1,200 with a bake sale.
Thanks again to everyone who participated and donated to this important cause.
Wishlist Grants
Applications for this year’s Raise it for Redcliffe Wishlist Grants have now closed. Thank you to everyone who has applied and those who have assisted in preparing those project proposals.
This round is the third time these grants have been offered, with $10,000 available to support eligible projects that provide sustained benefit to patients and/or staff.
We look forward to announcing this year’s grant recipients very soon.
Wishlist Grants are made possible thanks to Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day and other activities of Raise it for Redcliffe, the philanthropic partnership between Redcliffe Hospital and the RBWH Foundation
Christmas is coming!
With Christmas almost upon us, yesterday the paediatric ward had a visit from Santa with a trolley load of gifts donated through Raise it for Redcliffe. Read more about that visit here.
Next week will be your last chance to sign up for this year’s Christmas Decoration Competition. Some of those areas competing this year include Ward 6 West, Pharmacy, and the Neo Natal Unit.
Christmas Decorations are a great way to share our spirit with patients and visitors – but displays must comply with safety and infection control considerations.
Lastly this week, a reminder that everyone is invited to the Christmas Wellness Fair in the Staff Courtyard next Tuesday, thanks to REDDY Fun and Fitness, the Wellness Working Group and QSuper. See everyone there.
Louise.
