Our Staff Wellness Working Group and REDDY Fun and Fitness have capped off the year with another great initiative – the Christmas Wellness Fair.
The event was held in the ZEN Den on Tuesday, with around 400 hospital staff participating throughout the morning. Those who joined the fun shared about 600 cupcakes, slushies, and a good amount of fresh popcorn.
Thanks again to everyone involved and the event’s sponsors QSuper, part of Australian Retirement Trust, and Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital.Heatwave conditions
Redcliffe and much of South East Queensland is experiencing a heatwave today and over the weekend. Everyone needs to:
- stay hydrated by drinking 2-3L of water a day.
- Slip, slop, slap, seek and slide when outside, such as walking to and from your vehicle.
- Watch out for early signs of heat stress.
More information about heatwave precautions is available on the Queensland Health website. The risk of heat-related illness is very real, and the weather conditions mean that anyone working outdoors or travelling for work needs to pay special attention to their safety and well-being. There is a Heatwave workplace guideline for employees and a First Aid Fact Sheet available to support staff wellness on the staff extranet. In these hot conditions, staff who are smokers must also take extra care to ensure they are not accidentally starting fires in gardens or on footpath areas in or near the hospital.
