Yesterday was a time of reflection and remembrance as we gave tribute and acknowledgement to our ANZAC heroes. They paid the ultimate sacrifice to provide us with the lives that we have today.

I felt honoured to be at ANZAC Square on Wednesday evening 24 April for the Nurses Memorial Candlelight Vigil, to commemorate the nurses and midwives who have served in times of conflict on behalf of Metro North Health.

“For our tomorrow, they gave their today. We will remember them”.

To all the nurses and midwives who have served and continue to serve in our defence forces, I thank you for your service. Lest We Forget.

I am excited to share an update on the Clinical Supervision program. A vital aspect of our commitment to supporting the well-being and professional development of our nursing and midwifery staff. In today’s challenging healthcare landscape, clinical supervision offers a proactive solution to address the challenges and burdens of the work nurses and midwives are faced with. It provides essential support for our graduates and empowers all nurses and midwives in their current roles. I would strongly encourage you to be a part of this exciting program. Whether you are a new graduate, a new starter or have years of experience, there is absolute merit in clinical supervision. Please contact Cathy Boyle if you would like to be a part of this program.

A reminder that 5 May is International Day of the Midwife and 12 May is International Nurses Day. During that week I will be travelling around to as many of our Metro North Health facilities as I can, and I hope to meet and speak with as many of you as possible. I hope your areas are going to take some time to celebrate the great work that you do every single day and enjoy all the accolades that come your way. Remember, Metro North Nursing and Midwifery….the heartbeat of health!!!!

Until next time, stay safe and have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

Alanna.
