29 July 2021
Dear colleagues,
This morning the Health Minister and Chief Health Officer announced another 7 days of mandatory mask wearing in the 11 South East Queensland local government areas, due to the current COVID-19 situation in Brisbane and interstate. We have seen numbers grow again in New South Wales today.
Masks are mandatory and must be worn at all times when outside your own home, except when you are eating or drinking.
As we will continue to be in moderate risk PPE for the next 7 days, Metro North will remain at Tier 1 in our COVID response plan.
Metro North is supporting the response at the backpacker accommodation in Brisbane and as the guests are quarantining in place, we have an onsite presence. Our contact tracers are working hard, as usual, to gather information.
Please remember to continue using the Check In Qld app when you arrive at work and if you’re moving between floors or buildings. This information is vital in the event of contact tracing and is one way we can reduce the likelihood of further restrictions.
Stay home if you’re unwell and get tested if you have any symptoms. Please also remember to practice regular hand hygiene and social distancing.
Vaccination update
We are continuing to vaccinate priority groups at our eight vaccine clinics. Our focus at the moment is making sure all frontline staff have had two doses of COVID vaccine. When we have more reliable vaccine supply, we can recommence broader vaccinations.
As at yesterday, Metro North has administered 202,576, including 17,095 staff receiving at least one dose.
Kind regards,
Louise O’Riordan
