Earlier this year, RBWH clinicians Dr Adam Stewart, an Infectious Diseases registrar, and Dr Matthew Roberts, received the prestigious Avant Foundation awards for research.
Dr Stewart received the award for his research into drug trials for gram-negative bloodstream infections and the effects of new and old antibiotics on human gut flora. Dr Roberts received the award for his research into prostate cancer and using preoperative information to construct a prediction model for spread of cancer and how it relates to long term prognosis.
The award win not only provided funding to the research projects, but will ultimately contribute to improving healthcare outcomes for patients in the future.
