Last month we celebrated Doctor’s Day to acknowledge and honour the valuable service doctors provide to our patients and the community. At TPCH, we marked this international day of recognition with a special Grand Rounds which included presentations by Senior Surgeon and Metro North Board member Dr Rob Franz and Senior Paediatrician Dr Rose Fahy who spoke about their careers and extensive clinical experiences as medical practitioners. An honour wall near the Education Centre waterfall, containing written acknowledgements to our doctors and a history wall were also presented on the day to recognise the excellent work and proud achievements that our medical staff have contributed to throughout the life of TPCH.
We continue our focus on safe environment for our patients and staff, in particular hand hygiene which is an extremely important component of this. We continue to meet the minimum standard of 80% compliance across all five moments of hand hygiene and in January this year we exceeded this minimum standard with overall compliance in excess of 90 per cent. Although we are showing good numbers, we must continue to be vigilant in this area of importance to ensure we keep everyone safe. More information on hand hygiene.
