Dr David Rosengren

Hi Team Royal,

It is already May. Time really does fly when we’re having fun and May promises to be as fun filled as ever.

We continue to roll out COVID-19 vaccination for staff, patients and family members in our RBWH Main Lobby clinic and we hope to see the addition of the Pfizer vaccine, for people under 50, this month. The staff flu vaccination service has commenced on Level 2 and we will be very keen to ensure that all staff have access to this before we start the second dose AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine program for staff in June.

May is always a special month as we celebrate international Day of the Midwife (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May). Our nurses and midwives are part of the fabric of RBWH and we are thankful every day for their expertise, care and commitment both to our patients and their teams. Thank you for all that you do.

The big ticket item this month is the Metro North Have You Say Survey, which will run from 17 May to 7 June. Many of you will remember completing the survey two years ago and the feedback you provided has been instrumental in guiding us to embed new positive initiatives and to help steer the implementation of strategies which improve workplace culture and staff wellbeing. We all know how challenging things have been in the last few years and the survey will provide critical feedback on how we are tracking and where we need to invest in positive workplace changes. Every voice is important. Please make sure that yours is heard.

It is always important to have something exciting to look forward to and the RBWH Foundation’s Raise it for the Royal Giving Day is back on the agenda this year (June 23). Set to be bigger and better than ever, Giving Day is a great way for you to help raise the profile (and money) for the Foundation and have some crazy fun along the way. I’m already hearing about the plans from clinical teams (I’m sworn to secrecy) and although not everything is a competition, you don’t want to be off the pace in the ramp up to this awesome day. To find out how you and your team can be part of Giving Day, read the article below and visit www.royalgivingday.com.au

Some of us have been lucky to enjoy a little extra time off over the past few months with the numerous public holidays. If this is you, I hope you’re feeling a little more refreshed and ready to take on whatever the rest of 2021 brings. I’ve you’ve worked through the public holidays, please make sure you schedule some time off soon. It is so important for us to rest and rejuvenate so we can bring our best to our patients, teams and families.

Cheers,
David Rosengren
