Ride for Redcliffe raises $10k for research
Dr Joel Dulhunty has been welcomed back to Redcliffe Hospital after a Herculean 42-day and 2,621-kilometre bike ride raising funds for medical research.
Joel’s Ride for Redcliffe has so far raised more than $10,000 toward a new research position at Redcliffe Hospital.
Joel said he had many people to thank for making the trip possible.
“First, a huge thank you to my wonderful wife Naoni, for the privilege of sharing this amazing journey with her,” Joel said.
“I would also like to thank the many hospital staff and friends who supported us through words of encouragement and by their generous donations to Raise it for Redcliffe.”
Joel said that among the many highlights along the trip, the last day and arriving back at Redcliffe had been particularly special.
“On the last day of our ride, we left Woodford as the mist was rising into a beautiful blue sunny day. It was so magical that there was a thought in the back of my mind saying wouldn’t it be nice to just keep riding?”
Joel says he will keep on riding and continue to donate $1 for every kilometre he rides on his touring bike or his Penny Farthing.
Joel’s Ride for Redcliffe was part of the hospital’s Raise it for Redcliffe partnership with the RBWH Foundation. Find out more about Raise it for Redcliffe on the Foundations website.
