Bells are jingling with the festive season in full swing across RBWH.
The annual Team Royal Christmas Decorating Competition delivered some stiff competition with teams throughout the hospital getting in on the Christmas action. The judges were impressed by all entrants, with many creative adaptions of the themes, delicious baked goods and sustainable use of materials. Some teams even got their patients involved in making the decorations, with Mental Health F Floor arranging a consumer to show the judges around what they’d created.
The top four entries this year are:
- Emergency Medical Imaging | Ground Floor – Dr James Mayne Building: Christmas on (X-ray) Film
- Mental Health F Floor: Christmas Around the World
- Nuclear Medicine & QLD PET Services Dept | Level 3 – Ned Hanlon Building: Christmas on Film
- Ward 9BS | Level 9 – Ned Hanlon Building: Christmas Around the World (space)
The RBWH Chaplaincy Service has organised Christmas carollers to perform on Friday 17 December. Their lovely Christmas carols are set to fill the RBWH Atrium with joy and Christmas spirit.
Up in the NICU, the team has been hard at work organising handmade Christmas stockings and Christmas beanies for the babies to wear on Christmas day. Thanks to the Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists Association, our tiniest patients will be decked out in festive gear for the big day.
Meanwhile, the Food and Retail Services team is also getting ready for Christmas where they will serve a traditional Christmas lunch to all RBWH inpatients here on the day. The lunch will include Christmas turkey, roast vegetables and cranberry sauce, with Christmas pudding and custard to top it all off.
Thanks to all staff for getting involved in the festive spirit!
