It has certainly been a weekend to remember. I hope you are all safe.
The response from Metro North staff to this severe weather and flooding has been outstanding.
Firstly, I want to thank all the staff who have stayed at our facilities to care for patients and cover shifts for staff who were unable to get through. Thank you also to our executive teams who worked through the weekend coordinating the flood response.
This morning we are seeing the Brisbane River peak at major flood levels, and again on the afternoon high tide. There is still a lot of water coming down through the system. There are still a lot of closed roads and we are expecting staffing to be an issue at some sites today.
Thank you also to the many clinical staff who have already presented to another facility last night and today.
I’m asking all clinical, clinical support and operational staff who are unable to attend their usual workplace, please advise your supervisor if you are able to get to another Metro North facility to work today. Please stay safe and drive to the conditions.
For those staff who have been personally affected by flooding, my thoughts are with you. Please remember you can access free confidential services through Benestar when the time is right.
Thank you for your commitment.
Regards,
Jackie
