The weekend has been a dramatic and stressful one for our entire community. Many of our hospital team have also been personally impacted by the severe weather over the weekend.
While the rain has stopped here at Redcliffe, we remain on a Code Brown at Redcliffe Hospital and across Metro North Health.
We have had some challenges before us today and will for this week. Most planned care for today was rescheduled, and we will be returning to planned care tomorrow. Please talk to your line manager as soon as possible if there is an issue preventing you from attending your shift.
Our hospital is at its best when responding to the unexpected. As I moved about the hospital yesterday with Darren Apps, I was struck by the sense of positivity among staff. Wards and teams were actively problem-solving and getting on with the job of providing safe and quality patient care. Thank you to everyone who helped over the weekend with overtime and double shifts. We also safely accommodated a number of staff who could not get home. As always, our priority is the safety of our staff and patients.
One note of concern, we are starting to see a concerning lack of attention to the correct use of PPE. I remind everyone that Metro North remains on high-risk PPE. Nothing has changed in that regard.
Our PPE requirements remain unchanged.
Lastly, my sincere thanks to everyone who has worked the past few days to support patient care and service delivery.
We are stronger when we work together #IamRedcliffe.
