As you all know, STARS will undergo an accreditation survey by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) next week from Monday 14 March until Thursday 17 March. STARS achieved interim accreditation last year, and the outcome of this survey will determine our ongoing accreditation status.
We will be assessed against all elements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, incorporating Standards 1 – 8. As a health service, we are required to undertake accreditation to ensure that we not only meet the national Standards but are continually improving the quality of healthcare to our consumers and the community.
Next week, the three ACHS assessors will spend most of their time in the hospital talking to staff in both clinical and non-clinical areas. They may come and ask you questions about your service, but they will mostly want to see how you provide excellent patient-focussed care.
I am confident that we are well-prepared for our survey, but I encourage you all to have another quick read over the Safety and Quality Corner updates and familiarise yourselves with the online resources.

We all work really hard to provide excellent patient centred, compassionate care; this is an opportunity for us to showcase the quality of care we provide here at STARS.
Best wishes and have a lovely Friday.
