Angie Dobbrick, Executive Director, Caboolture, Kilcoy & Woodford Clinical Directorate

I’m excited to officially welcome about 180 new staff to the CKW Directorate today … but we already know them well and value the work they do every day to support our patients, visitors and staff.

The CKW Patient Support Services (PSS) team, which includes our Operational, Food Services and Security teams, have officially joined the CKW Directorate team and are being managed locally from Caboolture. This change will help us to build capacity and prepare for our move into the new Clinical Services Building next year.

Chief Executive Jackie Hanson and I will host a barbecue lunch on Monday to officially welcome our PSS staff to the Directorate.

Trailblazers and Move Forums

As you can imagine, opening the new Clinical Services Building will require a highly coordinated effort to ensure we are ready to relocate new and existing services, patients and workforce into the new facility.

The Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Team have started to plan for our move process, including recruiting CKW staff to become CHRP Trailblazers. Trailblazers will help to coordinate move activities by managing key relocation activities and supporting their teams to get ready to move.

If you’re interested in becoming a CHRP Trailblazer, please talk to your Line Manager. And keep an eye out for posters promoting the CHRP Trailblazers in your team!

The other exciting activity in the move space is the start of the Move Forums, with the first one scheduled for Wednesday 20 April. The CHRP team facilitate the Move Forums and use the time to support the Trailblazers through the move process.

Move Forums are open to all staff and are an excellent opportunity to learn about the move process. I strongly encourage everyone to attend and learn about this important phase of the redevelopment.

New Call Centre and Dietetic Assistant WorkroomNew Call Centre and Dietetic Assistant Workroom

The Caboolture Hospital kitchen refurbishment project is well and truly underway.

This important project will ensure we have the capacity to meet patient dietary needs and the higher demand for Food Services as our hospital expands following the redevelopment project.

The team celebrated their first project milestone last week with the completion of the new call centre and Dietetic Assistant office.

Our Nutrition and Food Services team are really happy with their new space. Congratulations to all involved!

What a compliment!

Here is a great compliment about our maternity team received through PREMS earlier this week:

“All of the staff that I came into contact with were absolutely incredible and are a credit to the hospital. From the midwives in the birth suite to the cleaning team, they all treated me with care, respect and understanding during the birth and aftercare of my premature baby.

“If I were to decide to have another baby, I would not hesitate to have it at Caboolture Hospital.

“The home midwife visits were also amazing and informative, and helped take a lot off our minds by answering all of our new parent questions.  Elise the lactation consultant has also been very supportive and informative during my difficulties with breast feeding.”

Finally,

Here’s our chance to shine! The Red Cross Health Services Blood Drive is encouraging everyone in the health industry to donate blood. With lots of regular donors still missing appointments at present, the need has never been greater.

To join the Metro North team, visit lifeblood.com.au and follow the links. Make sure you indicate you work with CKW.

This will ensure that when you give blood or plasma in April, May or June, your donation will automatically be added to the Metro North Health total. Go CKW!

Take Care,

Angie Dobbrick
