I was away unexpectedly at the end of last week, so I apologise I wasn’t here for the Administrative Professionals Day celebrations on Friday 6 May.
In recognition of the day and the extraordinary work our administration team does, we received an overwhelming number of nominations recognising the efforts of our administration team members. In our eyes, you are all outstanding team members, and we don’t feel, due to the significant number of applications at this time, that we can single out a few individuals for acknowledgement. We’d prefer to celebrate each and every one of you for the contribution you make to STARS. I hope each of you who received a nomination enjoyed our small (edible) gift last week.
The STARS administration workforce has demonstrated, resilience, endurance, exceptional team work and dedication to patient safety and family centred care over the past year. Your teams have faced significant staff shortages due to COVID leave, COVID response tier flexing and the February floods, and yet you to demonstrate a high level of flexibility and resilience to ensure our patients have been kept informed and have undertaken additional workloads to accommodate COVID-19 tier changes.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our entire STARS administrative workforce for continuing to emulate the values of Metro North Health: teamwork, compassion, high performance, respect and integrity. You are a vital part of our STARS team, and we could not function as a hospital without you.
Best wishes,
Helen Boocock
A/Executive Director
